A fabulous offering is the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyril Henschke. A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc, aged completely in French oak, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to an elegant perfume of black fruits, loamy soil, and hints of mineral as well as spicy wood. Medium to full-bodied, pure, layered, and impeccably made, makes this an elegant Cabernet.
- WA, Robert Parker Jnr. Issue: #148
Medium to full red-purple; the bouquet is flooded with clean, fragrant blackcurrant and cassis fruit; quite lush fruit marks the entry through to the mid palate, then becomes much finer and more elegant towards the finish. A significant success for the vintage.
- AWC, James Halliday Issue: Jan 2002
Simple, green rhubarb flavours. Very hard and charmless. Drying.
