The palate shows great balance and complexity with an emphasis on blueberry, mulberry red stone fruits such as plums and cherries. d’Arenberg has been making this wine since the winery was built in 1927.
Wine Advocate  The big, dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 The Footbolt Shiraz possesses plenty of camphor-infused blackberry fruit along with underbrush, licorice, and earth notes. The big, dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 The Footbolt Shiraz possesses plenty of camphor-infused blackberry fruit along with underbrush, licorice, and earth notes. As with most of the d'Arenberg reds, the oak is kept well in the background. This Shiraz is of medium to full body, and excellent texture as well as richness.
