The taste has mouth filling rich fruit; again berries and currants carrying through with vibrance and superb extension. The finish has the finest grain of tannins, velvety with the wood and fruit extracts beautifully matched and textured.
The wine is bright cherry red with a darker plum coloured core. The nose shows liquorice and dark fruits, toasty oak with a chocolatey rum & raison aroma. The entry to the palate is soft with a rich solid palate that is typically McLaren Vale, with blackcurrant and stewed plum flavours. The structure is typical of Fox Creek showing ripe fruit tannin with integrated oak complexity.
Perfumed notes of blackberry, violets, tar, licorice and roasted meats. The palate shows great depth and weight with a solid core of blackberry, ripe plum and hints of black pepper flavours. The bright tannin remains focused and in balance against the fruit profile.
Vibrant rim with an intense dark plum core. The nose of this wine is powerful and aromatic. It has a suggestion of a rich intense wine with plenty of blackberry fruit. The oak shows as a sweet, lifted character and has an enticing effect in combination with the powerful fruit aroma. This wine is a typical McLaren Vale Shiraz. With a strong central core of black fruit, there is a sweetness that only comes from a region such as this. The fruit is well balanced by firm yet very soft tannins and the finish is dry and lengthy, with acidity to carry the wine through a few years in the bottle.
Kay's are specialist traditional red wine makers utilising grapes from their own 22-hectare Amery Vineyard. The grape varieties grown are Shiraz (including the 1892 Block 6), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Viognier, Grenache, Mourvedre (Mataro) and Muscat Blanc.

The acclaimed '1914' Shiraz. Made by Rolf Binder from vines planted in 1914 by Hermann Hahn (great grandfather of James) on the Hahn Homestead property located in the heart of the Barossa Valley between Tanunda and Nuriootpa. A genuine old vine planting such as this is quite rare, hence the unique flavours and seal of authenticity.
A special McLaren Vale Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the excellent 2002 vintage. Originally made for a private client from Fox Creek's own grapes, it was for sale to private customers and not available for normal retail sale. The blend in this wine is 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Shiraz was fermented on skins for 8 days and about 10% of the wine saw barrel fermentation during the later stages of the fermentation. The Cabernet Sauvignon components were fermented to dryness, before being transferred to oak. Maturation was in approximately 20% French and 80% American oak, with about 30% of this being new oak.

Powerful blackberries and blackcurrant flavours together with licorice and dark chocolate.
